The Abiusos

Chris & Julie

In 1994, Chris and Julie met teaching at the same school in New Jersey. They both had a strong desire to work with children and youth.  Chris grew up in South Jersey and studied to be a high school math and science teacher.  Julie was born in Guadalajara, Mexico to missionary parents and grew up speaking Spanish and loving Latin culture.  She always longed to return to Latin America one day.  After being married for 6 years, the opportunity to go to Mexico came in 2002.  They moved to Guadalajara, the 2nd largest city in Mexico (close to 10 million people). Their main focus was to work with children and youth, but that quickly grew to include a variety of community programs.  As they saw so many desperate needs, they became involved in areas that would take them all over Guadalajara and to other parts of Mexico as well.

Chris and Julie have now been in Mexico for almost 20 years and continue to work in several communities helping families. Working in drug & alcohol rehab centers and focusing on educational needs continues as well.  They have been a part of many construction projects through the years and love to host volunteer groups that are eager to assist in the work. There is still so much more to be done and so many lives that can be affected for good.  We invite you to join us in reaching the children, youth and families of Mexico!
